Venezia Porte di Terra / Venice Land Gates

Le porte, ovvero i portali di Venezia, custodiscono memorie sospese tra terra e acqua per l’esistenza di una duplice re te di percorsi, di mare e di terra. Esse raccontano anche la lunga storia dell’arte in Laguna che le ha rese eterni esempi di bellezza e sono pertanto una sorta di specchio dell’evoluzione stilistica della Città, presentando una varietà di forme e decorazioni che vanno dal Veneto-bizantino al Gotico al Rinascimentale e al Barocco, ma si possono anche trovare porte che mostrano contaminazioni stilistiche, per cui possono esserci esemplari gotici con elementi rinascimentali, o viceversa, creandosi così com binazioni uniche e affascinanti, veneziane.

The gates, or portals, of Venice hold memories suspended between land and water due to the existence of a dual network of waterways and roads. They also tell the long history of art in the Lagoon that has made them eternal examples of beauty and are therefore a sort of mirror of the city’s stylistic evolution, presenting a variety of forms and decorations ranging from Venetian-Byzantine to Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque, but there are also portals that show stylistic influences, so we can find Gothic portals with Renaissance elements, or vice versa, thus creating unique and fascinating Venetian combinations.
